Course Overview

Family Mediation cases often present complex scenarios with emotional layers and power dynamics, making it common for parties to hit temporary walls. As mediators, we have ethical obligations to keep in mind as we incorporate strategies to get parties "unstuck". This interactive workshop will guide you through the sections of the Virginia Code and Standards of Ethics and Professional Responsibility for Certified Mediators that are relevant when navigating difficult family and interpersonal cases. You will also become equipped with useful strategies to use in future mediation sessions and have the opportunity to take them for a test drive in the second half of the workshop.

This two-hour-long workshop will be delivered via Zoom.

Trainers

Brian Hirsch and Lynn E. Hawkins are both certified Virginia court mediators with extensive experience in mediating complex family mediation cases.
